Yesterday was one of those magical days. In a last minute spontaneous decision, my close friend Pam Hom and I set out on an adventure to Ojai. Pam is an incredible artist, so whenever we spend time together there is a constant flow of ‘oooohs’ and ‘awwwwws’, both seeing beauty and inspiration in everything everywhere! I was needing that, feeling a bit starved for it actually, as creative types sometimes frustratingly are.

It began with the exquisite fall drive up, where the colors of the rolling mountains were amber and the smell in the air was delicious with decaying leaves. First we indulged in a heavenly lunch (and peach pie and coffee!), with our dogs Finn and Moose joining us on the patio, European style.

Then Pam and I wandered in and out of a few stores in this one-Main Street-kind-of-town. We soaked up the creativity of other artists, from handmade exquisite clothing to ceramic sculptures, poetry on plates, and outdoor whimsy.

After a stroll on the trail through town, creative appetites full, and tired, happy doggies, we headed home down the hill, of course catching the perfect sun set over the Pacific, sea birds in flight with an orange glow on their wings.
